Maintaining a defibrillator battery is one of the most significant factors in successfully using an AED device in emergency situations. It is advised to regularly test the battery fitted in the AED device, as well as have a backup defibrillator battery on hand. The HeartStart defibrillator battery gives clinicians the confidence that the AED will meet user demand whenever it is needed.

This battery is a non-rechargeable lithium battery that typically lasts for 4 years with the AED device in standby mode. It does not deplete until it is installed in the defibrillator; however, it must be installed within 5 years from the year of manufacturing. Remarkably, this battery can continually operate for 12 hours, or in other words, can effectively accomplish a minimum of 300 shocks.
